How we give back

The Daystar Foundation, founded by Steve and Mary Hicks, inspires community service
with a special interest in community preservation, education, health and the arts.

In 1998, Stephen Hicks, CEO and founder of Southridge, and his wife Mary, began the Daystar Foundation to support a variety of charitable organizations.  As strong proponents of charitable giving within their personal and professional communities, Steve and Mary seek to affect the lives of people in need directly and to make a difference, committing time and financial resources to the betterment of our society.

In association with the Daystar Foundation, Southridge has donated thousands of dollars over the years to organizations including the Loundsbury House, the Ridgefield Fountain Landmark, Bradford Peterson Memorial Scholarship Fund, Eric B. Huss Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Ridgefield Community Center, Western Connecticut Health Network Foundation/Danbury Hospital, the Ridgefield Visiting Nurses Association, Save a Child's Heart Foundation, Walnut Community Hill Church, Christ and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church (NYC), the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, Beit Issie Shapiro Organization and the Ridgefield Sunrise Cottage, to name just a few.

"Through the Daystar Foundation, Southridge has been committed to charitable giving for decades.  Supporting meaningful causes is not only a personal mission that we find extremely fulfilling, but also a corporate and social responsibility.  We hope to make a significant impact in people's lives and offer an example of what giving back can accomplish." - Stephen Hicks
